Script Writing & Comm Studio 4 The End!!!

Script writing was a bit missing in action somewhat but based on what I did learn it will help me in writing better scripts in the future. My recommendations however would be that script writing because a component of Comm Studio I don't see the need for them to separate. Comm Studio was very eventful but fulfilling it brought broken friendships within my group back together. I enjoyed the experience and I look forward to more great moments in Comm. Studio 5

The End...

  We ended shooting on Sunday and can I tell you I am so happy its over .We had lots of fun but it was a very very long process. However being in a group where all members showed interest in getting the work done helped. We got it all done with limited problems and I'm very thankful to God for that the work still continues as editing gets under way and we do hope everyone enjoys the end product.

The wind came in...

 Today, my group was scheduled to shoot at 11am we got our equipment and strutted off to our location when after setting up we realized that the wind was too much and our ever sensitive wireless mics picked up every bit of it. We then decided it was in  the best interest of our production to reschedule our shoot for Sunday. We could have gone ahead with our shoot by using the boom mics however another groups selfish attitude saw our mic being present at their shoot. Well we decided to use the day instead to do some editing so the day wasn't completely wasted.

How it all started

    Honestly my group got off to a really good start. We were very organized and everyone was comfortable with the roles that they received. We started out with "Battle of the Princesses" which saw us going the extra mile by having shoots on Sundays Mr.Dixon was very helpful and guided us at the start. our shoots were scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays and we maintained that schedule throughout the entire semester. It's my hope that the editing purpose will be a smooth and stress free one. Difficulties faced were students walking in and out of our frames and group members hectic schedules. Hopefully the outcomes will be a wonderful and fulfilling one.

Let the Projects Begin!!!!!

     This week saw miss being out as she was feeling sick in the past this would have been a fun week for students as we could get some free time, some time for ourselves but  this was not to be. We had to use whatever free time we had to get our projects under way as the story board was due this week. My group was a bit shaky to begin with as we have had problems deciding on the perfect concept for our group however we went ahead and got our storyboards completed. I look forward to shooting this week and getting our projects completed as quickly as possible.

Hectic times ahead...

    This week my group had the task of completing our scripts, treatments and scene outlines for our group assignments. It proved to be a tedious task but our group is focused and well organized and we got the work done in a timely fashion. This first phase showed us exactly how much work we really have to do in a limited amount of time. Look out for more posts on the development of our presentations has they prove to be entertaining and leave you wondering what just happened.

Ask...before you post

Script writing class yesterday saw us exploring the world of copyrighting now I was aware that we needed to ask permission for the use of certain documents, pictures and so forth but I didn't know I had to actually go forth and ask permission for the use of certain pictures on my personal blog. Now I'm a person who tries to blog each day and I speak mainly on issues affecting Jamaica I do try to use my own pictures but at times I do venture in the world of breaking the copyright rules that others have imposed. The discussions in class saw us thinking about artists locally and internationally who have used songs of other artists and whether or not they had permission to do so.Some of the artists names that came up where Whitney Houston, Kanye West and even Elephant Man. By the end of class I was left thinking long and hard about the consequences that we could face. Miss even went on the say that our course should include a legal section where we are educated on how we go about the legal aspects of journalism and so forth. I learnt a lot in class and going forward i will ensure that I ask before I post.

Out of many one people

     When you run away from Jamaica because as you say things too hard here and you simply can't bother anymore and then you go to another country with your same lazy attitude, wicked thoughts, negative outlooks and your attitude to simply give up because you can't bother to initiate change what do you think will happen in the long run to the place you run to believe it or not its going to turn out the same way. You can move to a new place but change begins with you. Some of you are so ungrateful because if it wasn't for the Jamaican culture you grew up with you wouldn't be the man or woman you are today. Last year everyone was proud to be a Jamaican celebrating Jamaica 50 and now everyone wants to leave because we have this big hurdle in front of us the country I grew up to love had people who would never ever give up no matter what the reason why we are the way we are now is simply because no one believes in our motto anymore "OUT OF MANY ONE PEOPLE"selfish desires have led us to be a country with no promising  future

Trip to the National Gallery

   I must say at first I wasn't very excited about going to the National Art Gallery worse when the heavens opened up this morning and the rain came poring down however I decided to enjoy a day out with some of  my classmates and I made the journey. The place was quiet and allowed me to have some time alone trying to think like the great minds of those who painted and sculpted the beautiful pieces I saw. There were a couple revealing pieces that had us laughing from ear to ear my personal favourite piece had to be the one called Clitoris another one that stood out to me was the hand of water and spirits I really felt that one.The day was a nice one as we had good fellowship with each other even though we were few in numbers.

Yippie!!! Script Writing

When I saw the list of modules for selection this semester and saw Script Writing among the list I was very excited. Excited, not because I'm good at it but because I want to be good at it learning the skill of script writing will help in all areas of my work as a journalist. I believe that if I had known the skills for script writing when doing Comm. Studio 3 I would have done a better job with my photo novel. Script writing class thus far has been engaging and I believe I am well on my way to improving with my scripts. I look forward to sharing more on my journey of changing the world through my writings.

Genres

 Miss came prepared to class on January 22,2013 with a colourful powerpoint presentation that depicted and explained several genres in film. The class was lively has students recalled various films that  they had seen and applied them to the lesson being taught. According to the the power point presentation a film genre is a recognizable type of movie, characterized by certain pre-established conventions.

I was blown away by how many movies miss has watched, I guess when you have an interest in something you have to give it your full full attention. I enjoyed this class and I learned many new concepts that I wasn't aware of previously and it gave me a new perspective so the next time I watch a movie I will be watching more intently.
