The battle of August Town
Visited the community of August Town yesterday with my classmates to get first hand information needed for our group project. Lets just say I know august town had some issues but I never expected to see what I saw. The residents were depressed and the structures they called homes were as shaky as their spirits. The experienced allowed me to be more respectful of the hard work that my parents have put in to ensure that I have a nice home and for the blessings that God has given me. Jamaica is far more than the land wood and water let us remember the people.

Papine Project
Class today saw us going through the premises that we have written in preparation for the completion of our project later on in the semester. Miss examined the premises and gave feedback and assistance on the steps we should take to get our project under way. Class today showed me that with proper preparations I can prevent some of the stress and pressure later on in getting my project completed on time.

The Bus Experience
Today just like every other day I journeyed to and fro via the public transport system. However, today the conductor of the bus seemed to be having some what of a PMS type day as he decided to take out all his stress from his work out on me. As I payed him my fare the conductor created quite an excitement on me on the bus as he was rather upset about the fact that I gave him a $500 note and he now had to go out of his way to find change. "Yoooo u fi walk wid bbc change my girl man nuh ave time fi dis" thats what this man had the audacity to say to me.I calmly said to him if you don't want anyone to pay $500 say that as we enter the bus so I can know not to travel on this particular bus.
The bus drive continued and not another word was exchanged until the conductor became enraged again when a passenger handed him a $1000 bill. Out bursts echoed throughout the bus as everyone shouted their disgusts with the conductor. Everyone received their correct change and the journey continued as the conductor stared angrily at the passengers. Thank God I arrived home safely.

Shots
Cinematic shots are defined by the amount of subject within a frame
Shots can vary in duration
Shots can vary in size
Shots carry meaning... what purpose would shots serve if they conveyed no meaning not much would it
I had no previous knowledge of shots so I was quite interested in the topic as Ms.Davies spoke on the topic
Types of Shots
Long shot
Medium shot
Close-up shot
Extreme long shot
Full shot
Medium shot
Over the shoulder shot
Long shot is used to show the full human figure and shows a clear view of the environment
Full shot would show a figure from the knees/waist up shows it as approximately life size
NEVER FRAME AT JOINTS
Medium shot shows the subject in relation to its immediate surroundings.
Over the shoulder shot usually has two persons in the shot with one having his/her back to the camera and the other facing the camera
Close up shots shows very little of the background and concentrates primarily on the face or a specific detail only shows part of the subject. Close ups allow us to share the emotions of the characters.
Reaction shot is used to show the effect of one person's words or actions on the other people in the scene.

Abused
My mother combed my hair that bright and promising morning
The sun was blazing but the place was so cool and calm
The calm before the storm
But I didn't know this yet
She placed my bows in hair uneven were the lines that framed my braids
She showed me my uniform and tied my shoes lace
Just like she did every morning
My mother always wore long dresses
I just thought it was the way to dress as a woman
Later on I found out that it was to cover the open cuts on her unpleasant flesh
My father came in and took his seat
Clothes so clean and water dripping from his face
As he ate all that his obedient wife had laid on his plate
My innocence was still protected within my body
As my breasts continued to protrude
My hips no longer on the straight path
As curves came in and out
My innocence was what men were seeking to take from me
My father was my protector
So I remained calm nothing to fear even though men whispered in my ears
But that morning was the last sunshine I would see
As my father hit my mother the cups and picture frames shattered from the force of his hand
My mother lay on the floor
As if she was permanently placed there
He kicked her outside and closed the door
A silent message to show that she was needed in our house no more
My father came over me and kissed my cheeks
He untied my uniform
An then touched where my innocence lay
I questioned his actions
But he silenced my words by pushing his tongue down my throat
He moaned from the kiss a if he took pleasure in his child
He opened his pants and told me to touch what no child should ever touch
I touched it as I was grown up to obey my father even though I know deep down it wasn't right
He parted my little legs and pushed all of him inside me
While his big hands encircled my developing breasts
I didn't cry as I felt nothing
My mind was far gone from what was taking place
This continued for hours
My white sheet which once signified my innocence was now covered in blood
The man who should love me
Had wounded me and ripped my little heart from my body
I was only ten the life I was looking forward to
In my mind had just come to an end
My father was the man who I looked up to
But he pushed me on my knees
As he forced himself within me once more
My knees rubbed on the floor
Each minute went by all love was no more
The sun went down outside
And so too did the light in my life
My father had abused me
From morning till night
Street Children
They wipe your car glass
As you make your way to work
You drop a coin at their feet as if they have no worth
They ask you for help
You say you have no time
The same clothes they wear each and everyday
While you pack up tens and thousands of clothes to throw away
Neglected by their parents
Who are often children themselves
What a country we live in
We preach that the children are the future and each child must learn
Then why is it that they fight to survive and earn on their own
You splash the waters on them while you drive in your heavy trucks
Songs are written about them
It's obvious they are seen
The leaders of our country say they care
But have we even given them a one meal
We sit around the tables in our parliament house
Make plans for our country, millions spent on celebrations
While another child is abused and killed
What has happened to the heart of our leaders
I believe covered with pride and hunger for power
The eyes of this children are black
Death is near
All hope of a better life is covered in the black of their decaying toe nails
Wise up leaders and for once give the children something to believe in
Taste the innocence that leaves their eyes
50 years and you stil pass them on the streets
Take off your shiny suits for once
And embrace their pain
Make them feel as if the work theor fore fathers did wasn't all in vain
