Shots

Cinematic shots are defined  by the amount of subject within a frame

Shots can vary in duration
Shots can vary in size
Shots carry meaning... what purpose would shots serve if they conveyed no meaning not much would it

I had no previous knowledge of shots so I was quite interested in the topic as Ms.Davies spoke on the topic

Types of Shots

Long shot
Medium shot
Close-up shot
Extreme long shot
Full shot
Medium shot
Over the shoulder shot

Long shot is used to show the full human figure and shows a clear view of the environment
Full shot would show a figure from the knees/waist up shows it as approximately life size

NEVER FRAME AT JOINTS

Medium shot shows the subject in relation to its immediate surroundings.
Over the shoulder shot usually has two persons in the shot  with one having his/her back to the camera and the other facing the camera
Close up shots  shows very little of the background and concentrates primarily on the face or a specific detail only shows part of the subject. Close ups allow us to share the emotions of the  characters.
Reaction shot is used to show the effect of one person's words or actions on the other people  in the scene.
